Confidentiality Statement
As a professional school counselor, the goal is to maintain strict confidentiality when it comes to students and parents at Cooter R-IV School District. All meetings held with the school counselor will remain confidential unless the student or parent gives permission to share information with related parties.
However, circumstances do arise when information must be disclosed to appropriate professionals based on Missouri State Law and the American School Counselor Association code of ethics. The ultimate goal is to keep all children at Cooter safe from harm. Reasons for reporting include the following:

Academics:
A: Students will acquire the attitudes, knowledge and skills that contribute to effective learning in school and across the life span.
B: Students will complete school with the academic prep. essential to choose from a wide range of substantial post-secondary options, including college.
C: Students will understand the relationship of academics to the world of work and to life at home and in the community.
Careers:
A: Students will acquire the skills to investigate the world of work in relation to knowledge of self and to make informed career decisions.
B: Students will employ strategies to achieve future career goals with success and satisfaction.
